Preconditioning
Warming or cooling the battery before a fast-charge session for best speed.
Cold batteries charge slowly. Many EVs can precondition — heat or cool the pack — when you navigate to a fast charger so you arrive at the ideal temperature.
Preconditioning is most noticeable in winter. Without it, a DC session may start well below the station's rated kW until the pack warms up.
